Overview
Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions affect the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and nerves, often causing pain, stiffness, or reduced mobility. These problems can significantly impact daily activities and quality of life.Interventional Radiology provides minimally invasive, image-guided treatments for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Using ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance, specialists can deliver highly targeted treatments directly to the affected area, improving accuracy and effectiveness.
Our MSK treatment services include:
Joint Injections
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment
Trigger Finger Treatment
Nerve Blocks / Ablation / Neurolysis
TAME (Transarterial Micro embolisation)
GAE for Osteoarthritis Knee
These treatments help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support faster recovery without major surgery.
What are Joint Injections?
Joint injections involve delivering medications directly into a joint to relieve pain and inflammation.
These injections are commonly performed in:
Shoulder
Knee
Wrist
Elbow
The procedure is typically guided by ultrasound or fluoroscopy, ensuring precise placement of medication.
Conditions Treated
Arthritis
Joint inflammation
Tendinitis
Sports injuries
Chronic joint pain
Benefits
- Targeted pain relief
- Minimally invasive procedure
- Quick treatment time
- Improved joint mobility
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve in the wrist becomes compressed, leading to pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and fingers.
Treatment
Image-guided injections or minimally invasive procedures can reduce inflammation and relieve pressure on the nerve, improving hand function.
Common Symptoms
Numbness in fingers
Wrist pain
Weak grip strength
Tingling sensation in the hand
Trigger Finger
What is Trigger Finger?
Trigger finger occurs when the tendon in the finger becomes inflamed, causing the finger to lock or catch when bending or straightening.
Treatment
Minimally invasive injections can reduce tendon inflammation and restore smooth finger movement.
Common Symptoms
Finger stiffness
Pain in the palm
Clicking or locking sensation
Difficulty straightening the finger
Nerve Blocks / Ablation / Neurolysis
What are Nerve Blocks?
Nerve blocks involve injecting medication around specific nerves to interrupt pain signals sent to the brain.
Other Techniques
Nerve Ablation – Using heat or energy to disable pain-causing nerves
Neurolysis – Destroying problematic nerves that cause chronic pain
Conditions Treated
Chronic joint pain
Back and neck pain
Nerve-related pain syndromes
TAME (Transarterial Micro embolisation)
What is TAME?
Transarterial Micro-Embolisation (TAME) is a minimally invasive, image-guided procedure used to treat certain thyroid conditions, including enlarged thyroid nodules or overactive thyroid tissue. During the procedure, a tiny catheter is inserted through a small puncture in the wrist or groin artery and carefully guided to the arteries supplying the thyroid gland using real-time imaging (angiography).
Benefits
- Minimally invasive treatment
- Reduced inflammation
- Long-lasting pain relief
- Faster recovery compared to surgery
GAE for Osteoarthritis Knee
What is GAE?
Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE) is a minimally invasive treatment used for knee osteoarthritis pain.In this procedure, tiny particles are injected into the genicular arteries (small arteries around the knee) to reduce inflammation and pain.
Benefits
- Non-surgical treatment for knee pain
- Reduced inflammation
- Improved mobility
- Suitable for patients not ready for knee replacement
